Wynyard Woodland Park

10-09-2004
VISITORS to Wynyard Woodland Park can now stop for a bite to eat and a cuppa at the new Station House Tea Rooms.

The newly converted tea rooms are run by Stephanie and Angus Powell of Red Berry Foods - a local business which aims to provide seasonally fresh, high quality foods using locally sourced produce wherever possible.

They are working with Stockton Council's Countryside Service to provide this new facility to visitors to Wynyard Woodland Park. People will be able to pop in to enjoy anything from a drink and light snack to a wholesome hearty meal in pleasant surroundings.

Light lunches of New England Corn Chowder, Thyme and Goats Cheese Tart, selection of baked potatoes and Cured Ham Terrine are just a few of those on the menu. There will also be weekly specials and a selection of fine teas and coffees.

Opening times for the Tea Rooms are Wednesday through to Monday from 10am until 4pm, closed on Tuesdays. The Tea Rooms are accessible to wheelchair users and are available for meetings and other bookings. For further details call (01740) 630731.

Business helps young people discover life outside Stockon

A GROUP of young people from Stockton will have a chance to discover what life is like in the capital thanks to a donation from a local company.

Armstrong Flooring will be handing over a cheque for £2.000 to the people from Stockton Council's Youth and Leaving Care Team. The presentation of the cheque will take place on Tuesday, September 14 at 52 - 54 Hartington Road, Stockton.

The team is now planning outdoor activities for some of the young people. The Council Team is also organising a cultural visit to London for a weekend. A group of six young people will be able to take in a show and do some sightseeing during their visit.

Steve Jukes, of the Council’s Youth and Leaving Care Team, said: "We thought a cultural visit to London would be a chance for our young people to experience another part of the country. A lot of these teenagers may never have had the chance to go far beyond the Tees Valley. This trip will hopefully broaden their horizons."

As well as the trip to London and the outdoor activities the team is also spending some of the money on a project to develop the garden at the rear of their Hartington Road premises. The project is enabling another group of young people, aged 16 to 19, to improve their gardening, DIY skills and teamwork.

Armstrong Flooring, based on the Teesside Industrial Estate at Thornaby, donated the money to the team at a time when it is developing its own learning centre at its premises, where there will be access to computers for staff and eventually for the wider community.
04th August 2004Welcome to Just-Stockton.com

Stockton has, in the past, had a number of website initiatives. All of which have failed at the first hurdle.

Commercial interests, ulterior motives and just plain misguided intentions have plotted to disgrace a number of these attempts.

In reality and with the right skills, it costs very little to set up and run a successful website. We have the skills and what's more we have a proven track record in providing local, useful, no nonsense community based websites in this area.

Our aim is simply to make ourselves redundant. We will never hide that fact. If we can cover the costs of owning the site through advertising that will suffice.

We will be actively fostering relationships within the area to bring you the type of content we feel you want to see. Our views on what is important will change as you contribute to the site but we will remain dedicated to offering useful and relevant content to the residents of Stockton.

What we're driving at here is that this is a community site and it is your community site. You can dictate the direction of the site and you can contribute to the content of the site.

We will censor nothing but the obscene. We allow you a forum for your concerns, wants and needs.

The site is split into a number of areas, each of which you can add to.
The forum - to discuss any matter you wish
The chat room - to chat in real time
selfServe - to add to many of the website areas i.e. What's On, Local News
Classifieds... - to sell those things gathering dust in the garage/loft

Most of these need no explanation suffice to say that you can add to almost every page on this site and in doing so will dictate the direction and usefulness of the site.

WE NEED YOU!

We need people to submit local news, we need people to tell us more than we already know about Stocktons history, we need people to tell us what matters to them. We are ideally placed to offer a means to establish and publish support for your campaign, to hold and publish details of your meetings or to simply advertise your activities.

This really is your site, the first site to allow you to speak freely without commercial constraint or political pressure.

Use us.

Yours,

Gary & Andy, Directors, Clear Chaos

This will be the first and last plug we give ourselves.
